MULTI-STAKEHOLDER MEETING ON GREEN SOLUTIONS HELD IN HARARE

Yesterday Community Water Alliance hosted a multi-stakeholder meeting held at Town House focusing on providing green solutions that will enable development of markets that are low carbon, climate resilient, resource-efficient and society-inclusive.

The meeting was held under the project title “Partnership for Building Urban Resilience in Zimbabwe jointly implemented by United Nations Development Programme – UNDP, Ministry of Local Government, Public Works And National Housing and UNICEF.

Community Water Alliance in Partnership with Oxfam are implementing partners undertaking the project in #Mbare where the project aims to establish a waste transfer station, Biogas digester and a solar driver Asher for sustainability of the green solutions.

The meeting was attended by officials from key stakeholders who include Zimbabwe Sunshine Group, UNDP, Ministry of Local Government, Environmental Management Agency (EMA), #Mayor of The City of Harare, #Town Clerk and several departments within the The City of Harare.

A steering committee was appointed to spearhead the process of acquiring and approval of land where the equipment shall be installed.

The initiative will address the issue of waste being generated within #Mbare market in huge quantities. The development will also create green jobs as well as value addition through the reduce, recycle and reuse concept.
